What are the ingredients in your waxes?
Our blends are proprietary and we don’t disclose formulas. If there’s a specific ingredient you are concerned
about, please drop us a line at support@directcandlesupply.com
Which wick should I use?
Wick performance can vary depending on several factors, so testing is essential to find the best wick for your candle. Typically, the candle’s diameter and the type of wax have the biggest impact on wick choice. Our Wick Guide can give you a good starting point. However, these are only recommendations. Conduct your own tests to ensure the best results for your specific application.
How much fragrance should I add to my wax?
The recommended fragrance load varies depending on the wax you’re using. Each wax product page includes the ideal percentage for adding fragrance, so be sure to check the product description for guidance. Always test small batches first to ensure the best scent throw and performance.
Which wax is best for beginners?
For those just starting out in candle making, the Coconut Soy Wax Blend is an excellent choice. It’s easy to work with, mixes well with fragrances and colors, and provides a smooth, even burn. Its versatility makes it ideal for experimenting with different candle styles while achieving professional-looking results every time.
Why does my wick smoke or mushroom?
Wick smoking or mushrooming is usually caused by a wick that’s too large for your candle’s diameter or the type of wax you’re using. Other factors, like fragrance load and additives, can also contribute. Try testing a smaller wick size and trimming your wick to about ¼ inch before each burn to reduce smoke and prevent mushrooming.
